How to track quitting vaping — honestly

What's actually worth tracking when you quit vaping, what isn't, and how the CraveBreaker iPhone app approaches it.

Short answer

How can I track my quit progress?

Track things you can actually observe: days since your quit date, total vape-free days, cravings you logged and what you did, which situations trigger you, and money you estimate you haven't spent. Be wary of apps that claim to measure your lungs or heart from a timer.

What's worth tracking

  • Time since your quit date and your current vape-free stretch.
  • Total vape-free days, which keeps counting across lapses.
  • Cravings you logged: when, the situation, how strong, what you tried and whether you vaped.
  • Coping strategies that tend to help you.
  • Estimated spending avoided, based on your own spending — try our cost calculator.
  • Short reflections on what helped or what was hard.

What to be careful with

Many quit apps show “health recovery” timelines — heart rate at 20 minutes, lung function at three months. Those figures mostly come from studies of people quitting cigarettes, not vaping, and a timer can't measure anything about your body. CraveBreaker doesn't show them. Its educational section is clearly labelled as general information and cites its sources.

How CraveBreaker tracks progress

  • Your original quit date, current stretch, total vape-free days and past attempts are shown separately.
  • Trigger and time-of-day patterns appear only after enough logs to be meaningful, and are labelled as observations — not causes.
  • Savings are shown as estimates, with the formula visible, unless you record money you actually set aside.
  • Milestones reflect actions you took — using a coping tool, finishing your plan, returning after a hard day.
  • Your logs and journal stay on your iPhone. No account needed, and it works offline.

Frequently asked questions

Track things you can observe: days since your quit date, total vape-free days, logged cravings and triggers, strategies that helped, and estimated money not spent.

Can a quit app tell me how much my lungs have recovered?

No. A timer can't measure anything about your body, and most recovery timelines online are based on quitting cigarettes rather than vaping.

Is CraveBreaker free?

CraveBreaker is free to download. All craving tools, support resources, your quit plan, craving log, journal, progress record and savings estimate are free. Optional Premium adds more plan missions, preparation sessions, detailed insights and a monthly money report.
